About the Artist

Ján Mančuška (born 1972, Bratislava, Slovakia; died 2011, Prague, Czech Republic) was a pioneering conceptual artist known for his explorations of language, space and narrative structure. At the core of his practice was a deep investigation into how language shapes perception and memory. He was particularly interested in the fragmentation of narrative and the disjunctions between spoken and written word, image and meaning. Many of his works invited viewers to become active participants in unfolding stories. www.andrewkreps.com/artists/jan-mancuska
