Cayce Zavaglia is a St. Louis-based textile artist recognized for large-scale, hyperrealistic embroidered portraits of subjects including family and artists. Her work, developed after transitioning from painting, employs "renegade embroidery," using layered stitches of cotton and wool to create a photographic quality. Additionally, Zavaglia examines the backs of her portraits, interpreting them as representations of hidden personality aspects.
